What is Web Design?

Web Design is a common term but means many different things to different people. The common perception of the term is to take the word "design" and interpret it literally in the visual sense.

For many people this works but not Net Achievement. We have a completely different view on the word "Design". Certainly, it means visual, yes, but it encompass a whole lot more.

Design is the entire thing from the original concept to the finished item. Design is incorporating ideas within a site that actually do useful things rather than just being pretty. An example would be regularly changing content based on an automatic rotation of material stored in a database. It might mean that you tailor the content according to what the person viewed when they last visited the site. It might be installing a diary system to allow your clients to book appointments with you.

The point is that web design is a lot deeper than just what you see and knowing that before you start is one key to developing a successful web site.
